I’m super excited to share Paige’s session with you guys today! You would never know from looking at these images, that we were literally running from three fires in Santa Clarita that day 😮
We had plans to shoot at Placerita Canyon that day, but while Jami was getting Paige’s hair and makeup done, I noticed a HUGE plume of smoke …. from that area of the valley. So we decided we would head to Castaic instead, only to find that there were two other spot fires that just popped up. Sooooooo we headed back down toward Stevenson’s Ranch and finally ended up at Pico Canyon Park and Mentryville … and it was perfect!
I know people in other parts of the country are probably like, “WHY the hell are you shooting when parts of the valley are on fire?” … but this is our normal – and we were safe. I would never put someone in danger lol; if it looked like we needed to push it, we would have. But Paige and her mom were troopers and wanted to keep trying to find a spot, so we improvised and ended up getting some gorgeous images if I do say so myself!
Paige is like … the sweetest human. She’s also incredibly beautiful and easy to shoot so hey, thanks for making my job easier, Paige! Jami loved working with her as well – I mean …. hello gorgeous skin! As a makeup artist, Jami has seen it all – and worked with anything and anyone that comes her way; it’s her mission to help everyone feel beautiful when they sit in her chair. But when she gets such a nice palette to work with, she gets as excited as I do lol!
I make my clients do silly things … if you’ve shot with me before you know this. We are going to walk and walk and turn and move and swing your hair ….. a lot. And when we have some wind to work with as well, then it gets even more interesting. Paige took all my crazyiness in stride – and we get some incredible movement based images (my faves) as well as beautiful tight shots. I’m a stickler for variety – I don’t want your images to all look the same 🙂
I loved all her outfits, but holy moly this Free People two piece number!!!!! I die.
I mean …. that light and the color and omg. Perfection.
I always remind my clients that the location doesn’t matter that much; unless you have an emotional attachment to somewhere and really love it for specific reasons, don’t worry too much about it. I can photograph you anywhere and make it look good – that’s not a brag, it’s just because I have done this for so long and I know what I’m doing LOL! It’s more about the light and how you look in that light that I’m worried about; but I can also make light do what I want … as long as you trust me, we are good!
This park is small … not much to it; but it’s one of the best places for light and photographs beautifully.
Thank you, Paige and Jenni, for such a great session!! I love working with you and can’t wait for some more influencer team shoots! I’m not done with my 2020 team yet – even though I’m signing up my Class of 2021 team soon. I like to sign the class up early so we can plan for their senior year – but also so I can get some cross over shoots with both teams. Last year we did the BFF Beach shoot, which was super fun; I’m thinking of something sooner this year …. and themed, but I will keep that on the down low for now and share it during the meetings for my Class of 2021 Team – in January!!
If you are Class of 2021 or know someone who is, get on the VIP LIST so you can get all the info before anyone else. I am currently accepting applications and will be staring the recruitment process in early Janaury … I only open signups for a two week period of time, so make sure you are on the list and get the info – once signups close, that’s it 🙂 My team gets extra shoots and lots of other perks throughout their senior year, as well as killer senior portraits.
Class of 2020, I do still have dates open for Spring as well – it’s not too late to get images for announcements or an album (what I’m known for). If you want to snag one, click HERE to see the dates I have open and you can reserve right from there, or fill out the form below and I’ll be in touch!
xo, Renee
