Brightening up your weekend with Katalina’s amazing session in downtown Los Angeles senior portrait session!

Katalina wanted to shoot down by Disney Music Hall for her senior portrait session and I absolutely love this gold dress she brought!  It complements the color of the building so well and looks stunning on her!

I love shooting at this location by Disney Hall and the Broad museum because there are so many great spots for photos – we can walk a block and get a whole different look; I’m all about maximizing locations … because it allows me to shoot more.

This dress is SO AMAZING, am I right?  It photographs so well and looks gorgeous on her.

Jami created a beautiful makeup look on Katalina – as usual.  I love how she keeps our senior clients looking natural but also accentuates their features perfectly.  We aren’t about making our teenage clients look like 30-year-olds lol – makeup should never make you look like someone completely different.  (How fun are these scooter images?)

The light we got in this spot was INCREDIBLE.  I love when the sun peeks through the buildings and bounces off just in the right spot!

Finding art on the street is also pretty cool 🙂 

I have to say that shooting in downtown Los Angeles right now – during Covid – is not for the faint of heart.  This area isn’t too bad … but most areas of downtown are overrun by homelessness now.  It has been an increasingly difficult issue for LA for years, but it has become SO much worse now because of the crumbling economy in LA due to Covid shutdowns.  

That being said, we are always safe and I require a parent to come along on all my senior sessions, so if there are any sketchy things happening around us, we leave – period.  While we were shooting this session, there was a homeless man across the street completely naked …. just being naked lol.  We didn’t feel unsafe; there were other people around and he eventually moved along – but yeah … that might happen 😮 

If you are thinking of shooting your session in downtown, we just need to make sure you and your parents know what could happen …. we want you to feel super safe and happy the entire time!  

Katalina was a trooper – totally unphased lol.
