The Senior Rep Team Puzzle

Building a successful senior rep team is like solving a complex puzzle. It’s a blend of strategy, creativity, and a dash of magic. In a recent episode of my podcast, I had the pleasure of talking to Megan Hutchins, who has managed to put all these pieces together in an extraordinary way. In this episode, she shares everything from her thought process to her pricing and how her team has evolved.

She started her team in 2020 😮. This is a testament to the fact that much of the “fear” surrounding building a business is made up inside our own minds and that when we choose to take the reigns away from FEAR, we can accomplish anything.

Megan made over $45,000 on her rep team ALONE – not including her regular senior clients.  She strategically crafted an experience that has become highly sought after in her market and I would not be surprised if her business grows exponentially over the next several years.

Megan’s Transformation: From Struggles to Success

But it wasn’t always this way. When Megan first started, she was “literally begging people to join the team.” She had a hard time attracting the right clients and felt her initial group didn’t mesh well. But things took a turn when she enrolled in The Creative Team Method. Megan shared that the program was a game-changer for her, helping her to refine her approach and attract clients that resonated with her vision.

She highlighted that doing in-person meetings for potential team members has been pivotal for her and the success of her team.

The Creative Team Method: The Catalyst for Change

Megan also specifically mentioned how The Creative Team Method helped her implement a referral system with her past team. This strategy alone led her to reach out to 300 teens, filling her team quickly and easily. The program didn’t just give her strategies; it empowered her to make them her own. She was able to take the structure provided and tweak it for HER ideal client.

The Power of Strategy: It’s All in the Details

One of the most striking aspects of Megan’s journey was her meticulous planning. She starts onboarding clients in January and has everything mapped out for the year ahead. She even started a Junior Team this year which leads nicely into her Senior Team.  They key is to make the Junior Team fun without providing the all-in experience of being on a Senior Rep Team; this is a fabulous strategy I suggest to ALL high school senior photographers.

If you’re sitting there thinking, “Well, that’s great for Megan, but what about me?”—listen up. Megan’s success story isn’t just about her; it’s a testament to what can be achieved with the right tools and guidance. If she can do it, so can you. Yes, she put in the work, but this system of running a senior rep team can be done in ANY market with any ideal teen client.  The strategies work as well as YOU do.

A senior rep team is hands down the BEST way to create a foothold in your market as a senior photographer. It is how I built my senior photography business from scratch! I started with a basic camera and built it to a six figure full service photography business within three years, all powered by a strong senior rep program.

When I started, I called it a model team but in 2017, I changed the name to Influencer Team so that I could align better with my ever-changing Gen Z clients. Just last year, in 2022, I revamped it once again and renamed it The Creative Team.
