I have wanted to style and photograph a Vintage shoot for awhile now….but it’s been done….well, a LOT. So I wanted to actually have it MEAN something.
One night, about two weeks ago, while lying in bed around 3am with thoughts dancing in my brain (as usual), it hit me.
Vegas or BUST!
How fun would it be to style a shoot for my Senior’s Ignite National Model Winner Devan – in the theme of Vegas? (since that’s where we’re going on February 22nd for the Event!) Sometimes I have good ideas 😉
Of course when I approached Jami about this, she nearly passed out – she’s been dying to do hair and makeup for a vintage shoot! I knew I wanted to keep it simple and youthful… but wanted to give it that fun, Vegas feel too. So I put together some ideas and enlisted Jami’s help via pinterest so we could collaborate. (psst…I’m working on a behind the scenes video that will be Part TWO of this posting… check back in a couple of days for that).
And THEN, I found out that Devan’s grandfather owns this plane:
Yeah.
And this truck:
So then I got excited 😉
And here is what we came up with: (click on the images to see them larger)
I am so in love with these….
She is just stunning!
Seriously?!!
I die.
As you can tell, I wanted to give some of these a vintage feel and processed them that way; but some of them… the color was just too awesome and I didn’t want to mute them too much….
I was so happy the sun finally came out…. it was a super dreary day till about 4pm. As a location shooter ONLY, these are things I’m always dealing with – we have MONTHS of sun and then the one day I want to shoot and plan it…. it’s literally raining. Thankfully, this doesn’t happen too often out here in SoCal, but it does happen and sometimes you just have to wing it! This is when you need to rely on your camera skills….you’ve got to be able to pull it off – the day I shot Kiley‘ Senior Portraits, it was SUPER rainy, but they’re also some of my favorite shots I’ve taken 😉
I can’t WAIT to go to Vegas with Devan – she is going to have SO much fun modeling for such amazing photographers from all over the country!!! She even has a chance to win a session with Lindsay Adler!
OMG, this must happen – you can help by voting for her every day till January 31st over at The Senior’s Ignite Models Contest Page!!!
And if you are a 2015 Senior, you should apply to be a 2015 Renee Bowen Spokesmodel – YOU could win a trip to Senior’s Ignite just like Devan and Madi! Click this link to submit yourself: MODEL APPLICATION and you could be featured here next year! I have so much fun styling sessions for my models – it’s perfect for High School Seniors who more than just the average yearbook shot!
Okay, check back on Wednesday for some behind the scenes video on how I put this session together!!
xo, Renee
Simply gorgeous!! I love the concept and styling!! Beautiful!!
Thanks girl 😉
Love it Renee! I’ve been wanting to do a vintage “pin up” shoot myself – actually have something in the works. Great images.
Thanks Bill! Looking forward to seeing yours 😉
