Visibility Tips Start With Identity, Not Confidence

Visibility tips are everywhere right now, but most of them skip the most important part: who you believe yourself to be before you ever open your mouth. In this podcast episode, I sat down with professional speaker and visibility coach Laurie-Ann Murabito to talk about why visibility is not about being fearless or polished. It’s about identity, nervous system safety, and deciding that your voice actually matters.

Laurie-Ann didn’t grow up confident. She shared that there was a time when she couldn’t even make eye contact with people, spending years looking at the floor instead of faces. What changed wasn’t a script or a stage; it was the decision to slowly teach her nervous system something new, one small moment at a time.

The Smallest Shifts Create the Biggest Visibility Wins

One of the most powerful themes in this conversation was how visibility is built in tiny, unglamorous steps. Laurie-Ann didn’t wake up one day and become a speaker. She practiced eye contact for seconds at a time. She pretended she was hosting networking events to give herself a role to step into. She said yes before she felt ready.

These visibility tips matter because they remind us that confidence is built through action, not before it. Every time you show up, speak, teach, or share something you know, you reinforce the identity of someone who belongs there.

Why Being of Service Changes Everything

One of the biggest mindset shifts we talked about was moving from self-focus to service. When visibility feels scary, it’s usually because we’re focused on how we’re being perceived. Laurie-Ann shared that nervousness disappears when the goal becomes serving the audience instead of protecting yourself.

This is one of those visibility tips that applies everywhere, whether you’re speaking on a stage, recording a podcast, going live, or even posting online. When you ask, “What’s the gift I want to give?” instead of “What will they think of me?” everything changes.

Speaking Is a Business Strategy, Not a Personality Trait

We also talked about why speaking is one of the most underutilized business strategies, especially in an AI-heavy world. Speaking creates real connection in a way that written content and automation simply can’t. It builds trust, authority, and referrals all at once.

Laurie-Ann broke down why you don’t need a massive audience to be effective. Twenty people in a room still matter. Twenty people online still matter. Visibility isn’t about numbers – it’s about resonance.

Owning Your Voice Is a Practice

The most grounding takeaway from this episode is that your voice is a muscle and your presence is practice. You don’t need to get it perfect. You need to get it embodied. Laurie-Ann shared practical ways to prepare your energy, connect with people before you speak, and treat visibility as something you get better at by doing.

This episode is a reminder that visibility doesn’t require becoming someone else. It requires becoming more of yourself, on purpose.

Q&A: Visibility Tips From the Episode

Q: What if visibility feels terrifying, even though I know it matters?
A: Start smaller than you think. Visibility grows through tiny exposures that teach your nervous system it’s safe.

Q: Do I need to be an extrovert to speak or be visible?
A: Not at all. Laurie-Ann described herself as an “appropriate-vert,” knowing when to be on and when to retreat.

Q: Is speaking really still valuable with AI and automation everywhere?
A: Yes. Speaking creates connection and trust that AI cannot replicate, especially in 2026 and beyond.

Q: What’s the fastest way to build confidence?
A: Doing the thing before you feel ready. Confidence is built through action, not preparation alone.
