I have to admit … this shoot was probably one of my favorites I’ve ever done. I’m such a 90’s girl at heart … I was in High School in the 80’s – but I came of age and found myself in the 90’s …. everything that was awesome that happened in my life – happened in the 90’s (well, and also 2000 when I had the twins lol)
So when I had the idea to shoot a 90’s theme with my 2018 Model Team, I knew I had to plan it really well because one does not simply half-ass a 90’s shoot.
and my team killed it!!!
I enlisted the help of a stylist for this one – because getting wardrobe together for 17 models is NOT an easy feat! Daniel Alamillo did a great job helping me gather #alltheplaidinLosAngeles for this – and was there to help the day of as well. Of course, Jami Cox was there for hair and makeup – which we decided we would keep fairly simple and in line with what people really wore in the 90’s … color on the lips and not a ton of eye makeup – but ALL the mascara. I used a Pinterest board to help communicate with my team, like I normally do for any shoot – seriously, what did I do without pinterest??
Location was pretty important as well. I love the Arts District in DTLA, but I wanted a real grungy feel and it’s not super easy to find something that would work….
A few months ago, while shooting in the Arts District, Jami and I saw this killer bus parked – and knew we HAD to shoot there at some point …. Nicholas is the coolest and sweetest guy, btw (he lives on that bus!) – and his dogs are adorbs. If you need a fun place to shoot, you should check out The All Night Diner!!!
I want to thank everyone involved in this shoot – especially my awesome model team – who spent like 6 hours with me getting this done lol — I’m sure for some of them, this is outside of their comfort zone, but you would never be able to tell – they just had so much fun with it! Here’s some of my faves from our day:
Seriously how amazing are they?!
These are the shoots that are most fun for me – even though they are EXHAUSTING lol
All my level two models get access to at least two fun shoots throughout their senior year, in addition to their senior portrait session, a bff session and a family session; our next one is the Solstice Shoot – coming in December!
2018 Seniors –>
I’ve had a bunch of emails lately asking about sessions; I am technically booked through December, but I might be able to squeeze in a couple of you guys before the holidays, so use the form below to get in touch if you want to get on the calendar….. and I’ve got January – April dates open now as well! You have lots of time to get professional photos done, so hmu! xo
I so love these pics! You did an awesome job. So did Jamie. I low this one had to be fun. I hope you do a 70’s shoot sometime. That’s my fave. Music, fashion, trends, just everything about it.
