Why Photography Business Strategy Matters Now

Photography business strategy has never been more important than it is right now. As I shared in this episode, many photographers are feeling the pressure of not having enough clients booked yet while also bracing for the busy fall season. That tension between fear of lack and overwhelm from too many clients can create a perfect storm if you are not prepared. I’ve seen this across my own business and in the coaching communities I run. The key is to create a strategy that balances practical marketing with mindset and self-care, so you can thrive instead of burn out.

Staying Grounded When the Calendar Looks Empty

One of the biggest mindset traps photographers fall into is spiraling when their calendar looks lighter than they want it to. I’ve been there too. The instinct is to panic and start doing all the things, chasing every new strategy, and comparing yourself to photographers who claim to be booked out years in advance. What I remind my clients is that you do not know what those businesses actually look like. Many lower their pricing and need more clients to make the same revenue, while others have completely different models. Your photography business strategy must be rooted in your goals, your pricing, and your capacity, not in someone else’s Instagram post.

Mindset and Nervous System Regulation

Even the best photography business strategy will not work if you are too frazzled to implement it. This is why nervous system regulation is one of my nonnegotiables. For me that looks like walks, meditation, hypnosis, and journaling. When I commit to those practices, I create the calm needed to follow through on marketing and client work. I encourage my coaching clients to find the one or two practices that work best for them and stick with them. Stress and panic close you down, while regulation opens you up to receive new opportunities.

Leveraging AI to Simplify Your Work

Another crucial piece of your photography business strategy right now is using AI in smart and simple ways. Most of us cannot afford a VA or social media manager, but we can afford a ChatGPT subscription. That’s why I created Senior Sunday, a custom GPT that helps senior photographers create blogs, social posts, and marketing content quickly. It’s only $44 total, not a monthly subscription. I also built Content Fuel, a Canva doc of never-ending prompts that includes Senior Sunday for $75. Both are designed to give you fast, practical marketing support with AI so you can spend more time shooting and less time stressing.

Also – I posted a quick tutorial on YouTube of how we can now use custom GPTs IN a project file in Chat GPT!  It’s gamechanging!!! Watch it HERE.

Resources You Don’t Want to Miss

In this episode I also share about the Photo Bundle, which is live through August 26. It’s packed with over $2,000 worth of resources for just $97, including my Content Fuel and Senior Sunday. Plus, I’ll be speaking at the Her AI Summit and the Ease and Alignment AI Summit this fall. I’m also planning a live birthday class in September where I’ll walk you through AI strategies for photographers step by step. These opportunities are about making your photography business strategy sustainable, profitable, and actually enjoyable. Listen in for all the details and links to grab these resources before they expire.
