Woohoo – we’ve got Alexa on the blog today! LOVE shooting with this girl – she is SO fun and photogenic!!!!
We headed down to Abbot Kinney for her session to get lots of color and texture in her images – I LOVE shooting down there, you guys (if you have followed my blog for awhile, you already know this lol) Every time I’m there, I see something different and cool.
I absolutely loved all of Alexa’s outfits – she couldn’t look bad in anything, but she really chose some pieces that reflected her personality as well as complemented her perfectly. I try my best to send out as much info on how to prep your outfits, but ultimately, it’s the planning that my client does (along with her Mom usually) that makes the difference in how wardrobe comes together. I really want the outfits to reflect my client’s personality – but some things just photograph better than others; we all know that sometimes things can look great on the hanger and then we try it on and we’re mortified lol! (just me? ha!) It’s just a great idea to put a lot of thought and care into the planning of what you will wear for your senior session – it makes a big difference! And of course, I’m always available to chat and give you my two cents – clients are always texting me from dressing rooms lol!
I really love what Jami did with Alexa’s makeup – she doesn’t need much obviously, but I love keeping it natural but complementary for my high school clients. Jami is a pro at that! (psssst, she also is available for holiday makeup – you should book her to come to you and make you feel glam for your holiday parties!)
A favorite of mine on Abbot Kinney is the Love Wall of course – and I also love that it changes sometimes 🙂 This pink Free People dress was so awesome against the vibrant colors ….
Sometimes jeans and a simple white top are just perfect for the scenery – and this is one of those instances. Throw on a little jacket and you’ve got a whole different look! I love how effortless Alexa is in these images – truly the embodiment of a micro influencer – she should really have her own fashion blog!
After soaking up all the killer backdrops on Abbot Kinney, we headed out to Venice Beach and caught the last bit of the sun slipping over the horizon, which made for some absolutely stunning images of Alexa. The colors and tones are to die for!!
I used my Westcott Ice Lights for most of these shots – they’re great for when the light is low and you want to grab color behind your subject without having to tote around a whole lighting setup.
